Digital3D mainly employs the expertise-base model of client engagement. This model allows the consulting firm to perform short-term engagements, provides an avenue for incurring the least costs to the clients, and does not require an in depth knowledge about the organization or the functions it performs.

Tasks associated with the expertise-base strategy consists of collecting and analyzing data about the technical characteristics of the client organization such as IT infrastructure and environment, and then formulating specification recommendations to the identified problems, such as new IT security policies or procedures.
